HIRING RANGE: $15.0724-$23.4085/hour

PAY GRADE: "E"

DAYS WORKED: Monday-Friday

HOURS WORKED: 8:00AM-5:00PM

TYPE OF POSITION: Regular, Full-Time

JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Works under the supervision of the Recreation Division Manager and Sycamore Park Community Center Recreation Program Supervisor.

Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.

Performs a variety of unskilled tasks in the custodial maintenance of the Sycamore Park and occasionally Recreation Center.

Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition the premises of the Sycamore Park inside and outside.

Responsible for all set up and tear down of equipment for events held at the Sycamore Park.

Janitorial duties include a combination of sweeping, vacuuming, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removal of all trash and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, and fixtures (vents, lights, windows, and blinds). Cleans rest rooms, kitchen, all meeting rooms, offices, game room, gym, and front lobby area. Cleans all windows, doors, and entryways, inside and outside, as well as the courtyard area.

Performs simple maintenance duties not requiring practical skill and knowledge of a trade such as changing light bulbs and replacing faucet washers, etc., as well as simple maintenance on equipment.

Required to keep cleaning supplies stocked.

Receives incoming shipments; verifies correctness of incoming shipments and unloads truck with or without helpers.

Performs minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance and repairs such as painting, floor covering, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work.

The position requires a person primarily to work alone and independently.

Friendly disposition and the ability to respond to patrons' needs.

No supervision is exercised in this position.

Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the city.

Works a varied schedule which will include weekends and evenings.

Attendance at work is an essential function of this position

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assists with the procurement of needed supplies for ongoing classes and functions.

Works other related senior activities within the Sycamore Park or outside, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program. This includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.

Extensive background checks required.

Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years or state of current residency.

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Thorough knowledge of custodial procedures and operations.

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and compounds.

Ability to operate floor stripper, carpet shampooer, burnisher, vacuum cleaners and other cleaning equipment.

Knowledge of preventative maintenance and repair on equipment and facilities.

Must be able to organize and maintain a variety of simultaneous projects and must be able to establish priorities as necessary.

Ability to communicate well with Community Center patrons.

Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Experience in recreational activities preferred, but not necessary.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.

This position has the responsibility to participate in and comply with the City's Environmental, Health, and Safety program.

Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Floor stripper, carpet shampooer, burnisher, vacuum cleaners, and other cleaning equipment.

Operates a computer, telephone, mobile radio and calculator.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds individually. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to quiet.
