The School District of Bayfield is seeking two (2) part-time (up to 20 hours/week) student Garden Caretakers to join our team! These positions will run from mid-May through November 2026.
Position Overview: Under the direction of the Education and Agriculture Coordinator, the Garden Caretakers will help install and maintain new and existing school gardens at Bayfield & LaPointe Schools including vegetable gardens, herb gardens, fruit trees, pollinator garden, high tunnel, and aquaponics system. Work with Education & Agriculture Coordinator, other garden caretakers, AmeriCorps member, and community volunteers.
Duties may include:
  • Garden Tasks: weeding, sowing seeds, transplanting, shaping beds, fixing irrigation, harvesting, weighing, packing, and delivery of bulk produce to the cafeteria.
  • General landscaping: moving soil, weeding, trimming, building raised beds, and mulching.
  • Education: potentially assist with garden lessons during summer camp or TAP
  • Foraging field trips for school tea station; harvest, dry & process herbs
  • Water and maintain greenhouse
  • Compost, site cleanliness & litter patrol
  • Maintain tools and garden equipment

Requirements:
  • Current School District of Bayfield student.
  • Applicants should be at least 14 years of age

Pay: $14.00/hour
