As a Sr. Real Estate Investment Analyst, you will play a crucial role throughout the lifecycle of a real estate investment and can expect to be staffed on several deals at once. In this role, you will assist in the sourcing, underwriting, financing, closing, and asset management of real estate investments through dispositions. You will be responsible for analyzing data, learning and understanding asset operations, risk assessment, risk management, financial modeling with waterfalls, and contributing to business plans that maximize the value of the real estate investment.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new acquisition opportunities, development opportunities, and recapitalization opportunities.
- Create, maintain, and update financial models using Excel
- Prepare memorandums, business plans, reports, and analyses that will be utilized with potential equity investors and lending institutions
- Research, review, and analyze market data and third-party reports
- Assist with financial, market, and property level due diligence
- Develop and apply an understanding of real estate fundamentals and drivers that create value in real estate
- Develop a working knowledge of leases, loan documents, partnership agreements, property management agreements, construction contracts and other related documents
- Develop and maintain relationships with market participants, such as brokers, owners, managers, consultants, etc., where assigned
- Collaborate with property managers to create, implement, and monitor leasing and cost optimization strategies
- Review financial and operational reports to ensure properties meet or exceed budgets and business plans.
- Perform hold/sell analyses and determine the optimal time for disposition; develop go-to-market strategy and effectuate disposition.
- Work with lenders to extend, modify, or refinance debt
- Report on property, portfolio, or market performance
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, economics, engineering, or a related field
- At 2-3+ years of institutional-quality experience in finance, underwriting, appraisal, or asset management within the multi-family real estate industry
- Strong understanding of financial analysis and modeling techniques
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in the real estate industry
- Ability to travel overnight
