New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) is the State’s affordable housing agency, with a mission to build, preserve, and protect affordable housing and increase homeownership throughout New York State.

The Public Information Office (PIO) identifies opportunities to promote agency activities and initiatives, serves as HCR’s liaison with the media, and plans and executes public events. PIO values professionals that enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and who have the skills required to effectively support the department’s mission to provide the public and media with timely and accurate information and to enhance communications and relationships between New Yorkers and the agency.

Job Summary:

The role is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Digital Strategy & Design withing the Public Information Office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of digital marketing initiatives and campaigns that bolster the visibility of HCR's services and align with our external and internal communications strategies.
  • Create engaging content for HCR's social media platforms, and generate long-term strategies to enhance and expand engagement with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with graphic designers to create compelling visuals for HCR's website, social media platforms, and agency intranet.
  • Oversee website and intranet management, update internal procedures, maintain departmental reference guides, and ensure quality control.
  • Offer technical and creative website and intranet assistance to agency program areas.
  • Analyze website traffic and social media engagement to help inform short- and long-term digital strategies.
  • Serve as photographer and videographer for HCR press events.
  • Assist the department's external affairs team with logistical planning and on-site management for HCR press events.
  • Create and manage video content, including filming, editing, and uploading official agency videos.
  • Travel to events across the state.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should possess a blend of creativity, writing skills, technical prowess, and a keen understanding of digital communications and marketing strategies. Experience in content creation, social media management, video production, and website analytics is highly desirable. Excellent collaborative skills and the ability to work both independently and effectively across various teams are essential for this role.

  • B.A. Degree
  • 4 years of experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Experience managing Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, and Tiktok, accounts as well as social media tools such as Hootsuite and Google analytics
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite of products
  • Proven experience working independently and with others toward the successful completion of projects.
