OPPORTUNITY: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing to join our team at Advantage Ambulance, Inc. in Riverside, CA. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing our nursing operations to ensure the highest level of patient care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Director of Nursing duties will consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Determines and accomplishes objectives which are in concert with facility objectives.
  • Supervises and directs patient care.
  • Assures that proper technique and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart, and reporting of changes in condition.
  • Assures documentation of patient care meets criteria dictated by LEMSA, state licensing, accreditation organization and Medicare certification regulations.
  • Directs nursing through regular group meetings and coaching on a one-on-one basis. Assesses quality of nursing care by regular review of audit results and chart documentation. Discusses treatment of selected patients with nursing staff members and the Medical Director.
  • Coordinates the employment of qualified personnel. May recommend subordinates for promotions, salary increases, or for suspension/termination.
  • Schedule and assign nurses as needed to ensure the needs of our customers are met.
  • Manage nursing hours, schedule, and budget within company guidelines.
  • Follows through with orientation and training of new staff.
  • Determines performance expectations for nursing personnel. Provides a performance appraisal system based on performance expectations and individual goals.
  • Determines educational needs of staff and provides appropriate resources for meeting educational needs.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities.
  • Determines needs for facilities, supplies and equipment. Recommends and substantiates requests for purchase.
  • Utilizes a body of nursing knowledge and discriminative judgment while giving direct or indirect patient care.
  • Responsible for creating a safe, therapeutic environment in which the patient's psychological, physiological, and physical needs are identified, anticipated, and met.
  • Is responsible for overseeing and directing all drug utilization, control, and accountability per policies.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Medical Director.
  • Coordination with Executive Staff for County Inspections.
  • Oversees preventative maintenance of all CCT equipment.
  • Maintains company accreditation standards.
  • Participates in company meetings, and offsite meetings with partnered hospitals in the communities we serve.

Required Certifications:
  • CA Driver License
  • Current RN license in the state of California (Unrestricted)
  • Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department or ICU Leadership
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of driving quality improvement initiatives
  • BLS Provider (CPR)
  • ACLS Provider
  • PALS or PEPP Provider
  • Driver History Report in Compliance With Our Insurance Provider Requirements (DMV printout or online version)
  • TNCC or PHTLS (Within 6 months of hire)


Status: Full-Time, salaried position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years experience in emergency services with progressive responsibilities including scheduling, documentation, and material control.
  • 5 years experience of ICU, ED, or management of an EMS CCT Department.
  • Considerable leadership experience
  • Acceptable driving record determined by Advantage's insurance carrier.
