Summary of Position

The Custodial Supervisor (CS) is responsible for managing day-to-day planning and implementation of all custodial activities. The CS ensures that the custodial team achieves daily service goals and contractual compliance through active supervision, hands-on audits and inspections at assigned worksites. The CS supervises a diverse workforce, including individuals with disabilities. The CS is a working supervisor position, completing all custodial duties as necessary to meet daily expectations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the custodial team completes work at assigned contract sites within established deadlines and scope of work
  • Fulfills all custodial duties to ensure daily completion of the scope of work.
  • Achieves daily service goals and contractual compliance through active supervision, hands-on audits and inspections at assigned worksites.
  • Assists management in developing policies, processes, and workflow procedures for the custodial team.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with building managers and employees.
  • Reports custodian operational issues to leadership as necessary.
  • Addresses and resolves employee performance and quality control issues.
  • Executes continuous improvement strategies, work practices, procedures and quality control plans for assigned worksites.
  • Maintains processes and procedures ensuring the safety of our employees.
  • Reports safety hazards and ensures the custodial team adheres to safety procedures.
  • Coaches, trains, mentors, and provides support to all custodial team members.
  • Manages time and attendance entry and edits, payroll hours worked to budget and achieves metrics.
  • Submits supply orders and manages custodial supply inventory levels at assigned worksites.
  • Maintains and reports all equipment and fleet requirements including maintenance and repairs.
  • Adheres to established departmental dress code.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule
  • Delivers exceptional customer service.
  • Represents the organization in the community in a positive manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities over custodial team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year supervisory experience.
  • 2 years experience in commercial custodial services.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or American Sign Language preferred.
  • Experience with disabled or disadvantaged populations.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work, including safety practices.
  • Valid driver’s license with approved driving record, liability insurance, vehicle in good working condition to travel for work related business.
  • Approved background check per site requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to stand, bend and twist for eight hours.
