The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Private Development Team Leader! This position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing direction and assistance to the Private Sector initiatives within MSG, identifying expansion opportunities to increase revenues, improving project delivery and operational improvements to increase financial performance. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Improve operational and business development systems, processes and policies in support of the market sector’s mission; specifically support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
  •  Identify and win project design and/or CE&I work with clients.
  • Work productively with Support Services Groups (HR, IT and Finance).
  • Play a significant role in long-term planning, including initiatives geared toward achieving excellence.
  • Participate in the development of long term strategic planning within the Development Market and preparing/publishing metrics for milestone accountability.
  • Review proposed project scope and fees to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervise and coach staff.
  • Develop staffing needs and work with leaders on identifying key hires.
  • Improve performance of staff, through coaching, mentoring, or showing and doing.
  • Lead pursuits and develop winning strategies as needed, whether quarterly/annually.
  • In concert with the Municipal Market Leader and others in the organization, monitor performance measures, such as fees earned, profit, CES scores, utilization, losses, budgets, backlog, bookings and performance as needed to improve performance.
  • Lead business development and relationship building within the market area.
  • Assist in developing funding strategies for clients, including Federal, State and Local Grants and Appropriations.  
  • Lead business development and relationship building with the various AHJ agents across the state.
  • Private Development QC and entitlement coordination representative
  • At times, when needed, assist in design plan production with AutoCAD or other tools to meet client needs and deliverables. Ie. Concepts, reports, QC, markups, redlines, etc..
  • Willingness to do whatever it takes to meet client deadlines: periodically working overtime hours (late pm, early am) and corroborate staffing needs accordingly.
  • Attendance of Plan Commission, City Council, Hearings, Conferences, Seminars, Forums, Associations.
  • Detailed Proposal writing
  • SOQs preparation with marketing staff.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10 years of Staff and Project Management experience
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of government contract management and knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Scope and budget development and oversight experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace 
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization.
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view.
  • Persuasive with details and facts.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
