Job Description

​​​​​Medical Imaging Manager

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Imaging Services Department. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients. Maintains performance within the department and participates in CQI. Assists in formulating the budget. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with hospital administration to plan and oversee Imaging Services operations, ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Conducts daily rounds to assess operational effectiveness, resource utilization, and ethical standards.

  • Maintains facilities, equipment, and supplies for optimal patient care and safety.

  • Conducts ongoing analysis and audits, initiating improvements in imaging services.

  • Manages department budgets and communicates clearly with stakeholders.

  • Provides patient care while ensuring safety and minimizing errors.

  • Delegates tasks, establishes performance standards, and oversees human resource management.

  • Coordinates training, fosters interdepartmental relationships and enforces procedures.

  • Participates in safety planning and community engagement.

  • Ensures compliance with regulations, conducts performance evaluations, and facilitates quality improvement activities.

  • Promotes staff education and advancement opportunities.

  • Implements mechanisms for policy review and attends relevant meetings.

  • Facilitates data collection and continuing medical education participation.

 

Supervisory duties and responsibilities include:

  • Writes and conducts annual performance appraisals and ensures regular ongoing feedback, coaching, and communication with staff.

  • Ensures a high level of performance standards and achievement to meet organization needs and business goals.

  • Provides development opportunities for staff to broaden and enhance their skills and abilities.

  • Administers organization policies and procedures.

  • Ensures compliance with safety policies and good housekeeping.

  • Manages initial training of new employees and ongoing training as required.

  • Promotes an environment that fosters teamwork and commitment to satisfy customer requirements.

 

Position Qualifications

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferred.

  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

  • A Wyoming Radiologic Technologist license is required.

  • BLS certification is required.

  • Some background in Imaging Services administration; experience such as Supervisor or Assistant Manager of an Imaging Services department.

  • At least five (5) active years in a department with diagnostic and special procedures experience.

  • Current membership and active participation in the Radiologic Technologist professional organization.
