Our North American Automotive group is searching for an experienced Mechanical Assembler to work directly with engineering and material control. The quest? Essential Functions:

  1. Blueprint Mastery: The Mechanical Assembler works from detailed assembly drawings and specifications. They meticulously plan layouts using blueprints and Bills of Materials. Additionally, they identify and procure necessary parts and components from the stockroom.
  2. Precision Assembly: The role involves installing mechanical components. This includes forming and connecting stainless steel tubing using hand tools, bench power tools, torsion wrenches, forming jigs, and assembly fixtures.
  3. Quality Assurance: The Mechanical Assembler performs leak checks and other essential tests to ensure the integrity of the assembled units.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Thorough Assembly Expertise: The Mechanical Assembler assembles mechanical systems to completion, adhering to Engineering drawings. They validate the quality of assembly components.
  • Time Management: Job assignments typically range from one (1) to three hundred (300) hours.
  • Dexterity: The role demands a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Requires general assembly experience, familiarity with assembly techniques and procedures, mechanical build, high-speed rotating equipment alignment, fluid system assembly (including internal leak testing), and knowledge of mechanical drawing, shop practices, machining, and shop mathematics.

Note: The incumbent typically has a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally during the workday, and regularly lift 10-15 lbs. Must be able to reach for and grab tools regularly throughout the day. Must be able to walk short distances in an industrial setting. Work performed within an assembly / machining environment. Regularly exposed to loud sound. Must read specifications and blueprint drawings. Poses appropriate vision for crane operation.
