2nd Shift Packaging Leader-Food Manufacturing (3p-11:30p) $18-$22/HR

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Packaging Room Leader position is to support the plant in the daily production and packaging of finished pretzel product. The Packaging Room Leader is responsible for a variety of miscellaneous duties that include, but are not limited to the following: prepare, assemble, and pack finished product, responsible for equipment sanitation, maintain machine and packaging efficiency, Hayssen Bagging Machine, Scale operation, follow all plant safety, FSMA, SQF, and GMP guidelines, responsible for promoting open, honest communication and cooperation with team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Packaging

• Assemble boxes/cartons to pack product.
• Hand pack bags of product off the production line into cartons
• Load completed product cases onto pallet.
• focusing on safely lifting and positioning palleted product.

Material Changes

• Material changes including, but not limited to box labels, ink and code date ribbon and packaging film roll changes, including documentation of the change.

Quality Assurance

• Maintain accurate production records during shift including but not limited to, bag weights, product completion times, waste of packaging and product.
• Perform routine visual inspection of product bags and cases of product for correct sealing, code dates, package weight, proper coloring and printing on bags, Code Date information, case labeling, etc.
• Performance of packaging weight checks ensuring packaging label weight maintained throughout production.
• Ensuring proper corrugate integrity of packaging cases
• Monitor performance of scaling systems, packaging equipment, and ensuring proper operation of equipment.

Setup/Breakdown of Production Area

• Ability to completely assemble and disassemble all operating machinery in packaging rooms, including but not limited to Packaging Machines, Scales Systems, Case Sealers, and Labelers.
• Following Master Sanitation Schedule

General

• Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free workplace.
• Certifies all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance with all legal and food safety requirements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of all functions and operations of packaging room equipment
• Must wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for job duty.
• May be requested to temporarily cover work assignments during times of absences of other shifts (illnesses/vacations) according to business/production demands.
• Willingness to undertake any other duties, either for this department or any other department within the Company which may be requested by the Management.
• Willingness to participate in the safety committee.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
• One to three years related experience (Preferred)
