Job Description

Supervises and coordinates housekeeping and laundry in accordance with policies and procedures of the facility that provide a clean, attractive, and orderly facility.

Establishes standards and work procedures for the housekeeping and laundry staff in accordance with the established policies of the corporation.

Assists with interviewing, selecting, hiring, evaluating, training, supervising, departmental personnel.

Plans work schedules and assigns hours and areas of work to insure adequate services for assigned areas of the facility.

Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping and laundry supplies and equipment and makes recommendations to supervisor.

Maintains inventory of needed housekeeping and laundry supplies within restraints of the budget. Inspects and inventories supplies to establish consumption of supplies in housekeeping and laundry. Prepares requisitions to replenish inventory and checks quantities delivered. Establishes and maintains safeguards for care, storage, and use of supplies, equipment, and chemicals.

Makes sure housekeeping and laundry equipment is kept in good repair and makes recommendations to supervisor regarding the need for new equipment.

Conducts staff meetings with the housekeeping and laundry personnel and works with other supervisors as necessary to coordinate housekeeping and laundry activities.

Participates in preparing budgets, personnel needs, and other administrative duties as related to position and department.

May be required to perform housekeeping and/or laundry functions as requested by supervisor.

Prepares ancillary charge sheets for all chargeable items and labor.

Knowledgeable of rules and regulations of various regulatory agencies which relate to areas of responsibility. Works with staff and other departments in helping to make sure rules and regulations are properly responded to and all licensing requirements are met.

Keeps appropriate records as required by various regulatory agencies and other such historical records that are essential to good operations.

Minimal Education:

High school diploma

Other training or experience in laundry, housekeeping or maintenance.

Minimal Experience:

One year of supervisory experience in a in housekeeping or laundry preferred.

Completion of or ability to complete state approved infection control course.

Other Qualifications:

Current North Carolina driver’s license.
