This position will report directly to the Financial Controller and is expected to be able to work independently to oversee and accomplish regularly occurring accounting tasks and to be able to communicate needs and issues with the appropriate department heads and executive leaders as needed. The person who fills this position will need to communicate clearly with accountants and non-accountants alike to fulfill their responsibilities. The person will also be tasked with maintaining regulatory compliance with all pertinent jurisdictions and multi-state agencies.

The position is new, and thus it is expected that the individual who fills the position will be able to adapt to new circumstances, maintain flexibility, recognize needs, problem-solve to meet those needs; relaying on the resources available to them.

The responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

Assist in month, quarter, and annual accounting close processes.
Prepare balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, journal entries, and review general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP.
Work with other accounting team members to accurately record inter-subsidiary transactions.
Work with the managers of various corporate held locations to properly record inventories, expenses, and cash activities.
Assist with the budgeting, AP, AR, and subcontractor payroll functions.
Maintain fixed asset accounting and reporting functions.
Ensure compliance with local and state filings including sales and use taxes.
Support both internal and external audit processes as required.
Assist in the development and preparation of monthly reports for management.
Have familiarity of intercompany accounting processes.
Ad hoc requests as needed.

Requirements

3-5 years of directly correlated accounting experience required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
High level of comfort with accounting software packages.
High level of proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
Able communicator, capable of communicating accounting needs to accountants and non-accountants alike to complete tasks.
Capable of analyzing workload and prioritizing well.
Familiarity with database management and generally aware of good data practices.
Capable of learning new software systems quickly.
Familiarity with sales tax laws, registration, and management.
Familiarity with cost accounting preferred.
Experience with job costing required
