Growing employee owned, small manufacturer in the Kansas City area has an immediate opportunity for a Full-time Shipping and Receiving team member.
Job Summary– Shipping and Receiving Specialist: Creates, verifies, and keeps records on all incoming and outgoing shipments. Counts, packages, palletizes, and generally prepares items for shipment, loads and unloads trucks by performing the following duties. Effectively and accurately prepares customer shipments, maintains inventory, and receives and documents incoming shipments.
Responsibilities – Shipping and Receiving Specialist:
· Very high attention to detail. We commonly ship to 200 to 300 different customers all with varying specifications as to their shipping requirements. Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately, with a strong attention to and retention of detail.
· Compares identifying information such as counts and weight, or measures items of incoming shipment to verify information against packing lists and purchase orders.
· Counts, packages & prepares parts for inventory and documents the transaction with direction from the shipping lead.
· Packages outbound shipments according to customer requirements or standard company protocol.
· Enter shipments into business ERP software and create bill of lading or parcel label.
· Affixes all documentation on container and “stages” order for shipment.
· Enters shipment specifications, weights, pieces, dimensions, etc. into logistic companies’ computer portals as required.
· Contacts customers or LTL carriers to schedule pickup of orders.
· Prepares orders and documentation for sending customer orders to outside processing.
· Operates forklift to load and unload trucks and to transfer material to/from storage areas.
· Supports and assists in ovens, shot peening and painting areas if needed.
· Coordinating activities with shipping & receiving lead to meet customer deadlines.
· Effectively communicate any concerns with the quality of the product, inventory, safety, etc. with the appropriate individual.
· Work effectively as a team, or individually, to complete orders timely.
· Follow all safety rules & guidelines while on the production or warehouse floor.
· Assist other team members when necessary and possible with a variety of tasks.
· Basic housekeeping items, as necessary.
Technical Qualifications– Shipping and Receiving Specialist:
· Must be familiar with shipping and receiving needs in a manufacturing environment.
· Must possess problem solving and critical thinking skills.
· Must possess basic computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office is preferred.
· Experience using UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager is preferred.
· Must be able to follow instructions and accept constructive criticism.
· Must be able to use measuring tools such as tape measure and electronic scales.
· Must be able to operate a forklift safely and effectively.
· Must be willing to cross-train and train others, as necessary.
· Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work your scheduled 8-hour shift.
· Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately, with a strong attention to and retention of detail.
· Must be able to adapt to change effectively, and willing to handle other tasks as assigned.
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with various requirements for each customer.
