The Excitation Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance services, and upgrades to customers' excitation and voltage regulation systems. With original equipment manufacturer (OEM) experience, this role serves as the technical expert on all major excitation system brands.
This is a remote / telecommute position.

What are your responsibilities?
The Excitation Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance services, and upgrades to customers' excitation and voltage regulation systems. With original equipment manufacturer (OEM) experience, this role serves as the technical expert on all major excitation system brands.
This is a remote / telecommute position.
What will you do?
- Perform on-site commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for all major excitation system OEMs.
- Lead complex upgrade or replacement projects involving integration of new OEM equipment. Develop and implement cutover plans.
- Diagnose and resolve highly complex technical issues, leveraging in-depth knowledge of OEM-specific designs, components and troubleshooting techniques.
- Train junior engineers on OEM-specific systems. Develop internal expertise on all major excitation system brands.
- Represent the company in strategic discussions with OEMs regarding new technologies and applications.
- Provide technical guidance, documentation, and training to support customers' implementation of new system designs and features from OEMs.
- Maintain certifications and keep up with all training required by OEMs to maintain expertise across product lines.
- Stay up to date with the latest system technologies and industry best practices. Pursue relevant ongoing training and certification.
- Submit all reports, documentation, and expense reports following the company policy.
What do you need to qualify for this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in excitation and voltage regulation field service, including 5+ years directly with a major excitation system OEM.
- Expert-level technical knowledge of GE/Alstom excitation and voltage regulation systems.
- Proven track record leading complex upgrades or replacement projects involving integration of new OEM equipment.
- Ability to work well independently or as part of a remote technical support team.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly for field work.
- Valid driver's license.
- 24x7 availability for emergency callouts as needed.
