PAYROLL SPECIALIST

VetPride Services is seeking a Payroll Specialist who is experienced in SCA and H&W requirements nationwide to help us keep growing. This role will be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. To be successful as a payroll specialist, you should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding payroll specialist should also have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Report to department supervisor regarding daily activities and issues.
• Work directly with clients to achieve organization goals as required.
• Address and resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system.
• Work with company database programs to process payroll.
• Prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll, company budget and expenses.
• Collecting timesheet data and payroll information.
• Entering data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs.
• Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
• Preparing and processing paychecks and cash deposits.
• Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
• Preparing and distributing income statements.
• Responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns.
• Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations.
• Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
• Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• A high school diploma or GED
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or accounting, preferred
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with SCA and H&W requirements
• Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment, required
• Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
• Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
• Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time
