Kaiser Transport is a pioneering open-deck Transportation Company that specializes in the movement of machines, equipment, and commodities. We have a full-time opening for a Safety and Compliance Claims Supervisor. As a Claims Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be investigating and evaluating freight, cargo and other claims, determining liability, and resolving any disputes with customers, carriers, and insurance providers. Your secondary responsibility will be to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Compliance Department. Job duties for this position include:

  • Manage daily processes and serve as the main contact for after-hours claims and investigations
  • Help with internal audits, training for electronic logging devices (ELD), and emergency management system development
  • Support vendor relations, property, and fleet insurance functions, and the preparation and maintenance of safety compliance documentation
  • Review and analyze freight, cargo and other claims from various sources
  • Handle workers' compensation claims, including investigations and compliance
  • Investigate claims thoroughly, gathering evidence and interviewing involved parties
  • Determine the cause and extent of damage or loss
  • Work with internal teams, carriers, and insurance providers to resolve liability and other disputes
  • Communicate with customers to gather information and address concerns
  • Use negotiation skills to achieve positive outcomes while maintaining good relationships
  • Maintain accurate records of all claims and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable law
  • Generate reports to track claim activity and assist with departmental documentation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding any claims
  • Address customer inquiries and provide updates on claim status and progress
  • Ensure prompt and professional communication throughout the process
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
  • Recommend updates to policies and procedures
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices through training programs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic skills in mathematical calculations
  • Basic knowledge of legal issues concerning claims
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and decision-making

  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong ability in Microsoft Office applications

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Logistics, or a related field (preferred, but not required)
  • 1-3 years of experience in claims adjustment (preferred, but not required)
  • 3-5 years of experience in Transportation (preferred, but not required)

Work Environment

The work environment is that of a trucking company and terminal. You will potentially be exposed to ALL areas throughout the workday and work in a high-traffic office setting with a working diesel maintenance shop and loading yard. There is potential for exposure to dust, moderate/loud noise levels, and fumes. You may be asked to perform duties outdoors.
