Description

Summary:

This position is responsible for supervising and training Desk and Field Property Claims Representatives, as well as managing and authorizing claim payments over the Property Claims Representative's authority. This position is also responsible for performing monthly claim file reviews and yearly performance evaluations for each direct report. Settlement authority is $75,000.


Functions:

  • Assist Property Claims Manager with management of Claims Department in assigned office locations.
  • Supervise assigned department staff in all aspects of their claims work in accordance with corporate strategic direction and guidelines and in compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
  • Negotiate with claimant carriers, insureds, and attorneys when necessary.
  • Assist in assigning new property losses to all Claims Representatives.
  • Handle selected complex property claims and property coverage issue claims, as needed.
  • Communicate with Property Claims Manager when assistance is necessary.
  • Notify Property Claims Manager of all claims that exceed settlement authority of $75,000.
  • Report claims complaints to Property Claims Manager.
  • Assist Property Claim Manager in responding to Property State Insurance Department Complaints.
  • Attend claims seminars and insurance related meetings; participate in claims associations.
  • Recommend improvements to or development of creative methods and procedures needed to enhance property claims handling to better serve members.
  • Assist Property Claims Manager in training and educating property Claims Representatives.
  • Provide training for assigned Claims Department staff.
  • Ensure loss reserves are properly set and consistent with company policy.
  • Review 3 closed claim files per claim rep per month to ensure proper claim procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.



Requirements

  • College education preferred.
  • Five or more years of Property claims experience, field claims experience preferred.
  • Texas all lines adjuster license, or the ability to obtain a Texas all lines adjuster license, required.
  • Ability to supervise employees and coordinate work processes required.
  • Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance coverages and terms required.
  • Ability to learn the coverages of all insurance policies written by the company required.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively with company computer systems, Xactimate experience preferred.
  • Involvement in insurance related seminars and continuing education required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, travel to all organization offices (including in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota) and travel to vendor work sites required.
  • Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise level, remain in a stationary position and operate a computer a majority of the time required.
  • Ability to move throughout the office to access work materials and to move work materials weighing up to ten pounds daily required.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation required.
