Position Overview: The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the Company. Reporting directly to the Director of Retail Accounting, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for various accounting tasks including but not limited to general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and assisting with budget preparation.

Responsibilities:

  1. General Ledger Maintenance: Manage day-to-day accounting activities including journal entries, accruals, and month-end close procedures.
  2. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
  3. Account Reconciliations: Conduct regular bank reconciliations and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  4. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist with processing invoices, monitoring accounts receivable aging, and maintaining vendor relationships.
  5. Budget Support: Collaborate with the finance team to assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  6. Financial Analysis: Provide insightful analysis of financial data to support decision-making processes and identify areas for improvement.
  7. Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  8. Audit Support: Assist with the annual audit process by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  3. Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  5. Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
  9. Experience in the Cannabis Industry is a plus.
