Together, these offices and inventory locations maintain an extensive and comprehensive inventory of track materials across the nation. Job Overview:

The Accounts Payable Specialist will support the accounting department by contributing to the processing of the company’s payables and maintaining procedures. This includes reviewing vendor accounts, coding and processing invoices, completing vendor setups, supporting other accounting functions as needed, and participating in special projects to help drive improvement. The Associate may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week to receive guidance and feedback.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, code, and route vendor invoices and match invoices against purchase orders.
  • Process timely and accurate vendor payments.
  • Request and review vendor statements and maintain accurate vendor accounts.
  • Inspect invoices and related documentation to ensure amounts paid reflect goods and services received.
  • Conduct ongoing review of 1099 information on vendor accounts.
  • Answer queries from vendors and other business units regarding invoices and payments.
  • Review and record P card transactions.
  • Generate monthly reporting as needed.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to assertively solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Demonstrated capacity for gathering and scrutinizing data to identify issues, opportunities, patterns, and sustainable business solutions.
  • Moderate-to-expert knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to all A&K Railroad Materials Inc policies, including those related to scheduling and attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, honesty, and ethical conduct.


Basic and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in an accredited Accounting or Finance program.
  • At least 2 years of accounts payable / accounting experience required.
  • Experience working with Microsoft 365 products e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Experience with accounting software. Dynamics 365 a plus. Paymode-X a plus.
