POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this role will be overseeing the operation, maintenance, staffing, budgeting, and performance of the Distribution facility. The Distribution Manager is tasked with implementing the strategic direction aligned with the company's overarching goals and strategies. Ensuring site performance with a strong focus on customer service and productivity is also part of their responsibilities. Furthermore, they will provide leadership to ensure flawless execution, foster a positive culture, and uphold the company's values. This role is primarily a hands-on management position that involves direct involvement in the day-to-day operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plays a strategic role in addressing planning, administration, and general management issues within the organization.
  • Conducts analysis of existing business processes using methods such as gap analysis or PDCA to identify areas for improvement.
  • Acts as an internal consultant, developing short- and long-term strategies for the organization, incorporating Six Sigma, Agile, and other practices as necessary to drive progress and reduce costs.
  • Coordinates and leads key improvement projects across all organizational levels, potentially overseeing multiple teams or collaborating with managers to re-engineer processes.
  • Establishes measurable standards at project initiation and regularly generates detailed update reports for management, comparing actual project results against these standards.
  • Develops comprehensive project plans to monitor and track progress.
  • Manages client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Creates and maintains thorough project documentation.
  • Tracks project performance to analyze successful completion of short- and long-term goals.
  • Motivates, organizes, and communicates values, strategies, and objectives to the team, fostering teamwork and meeting productivity targets.
  • Cultivates a culture of accountability, engagement, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures performance meets or exceeds customer-specific expectations.
  • Drives LEAN (Process Improvement) and exceeds productivity expectations through coaching and development of assigned positions.
  • Achieves working capital objectives by collaborating with functional leaders and the customer.
  • Approves and executes ready initiatives.
  • Ensures quality, delivery, and budget objectives are met.
  • Executes initiatives flawlessly.
  • Selects, orients, trains, coaches, counsels, and disciplines associates in coordination with the Human Resources Department.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment, encouraging effective communication and cross-training initiatives to enhance team productivity, versatility, and skill development.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and provide ongoing training to ensure a secure work environment, fostering a safety-conscious culture among Distribution center staff.
  • Establish and maintain a systematic approach to 5S principles, implementing standards for cleanliness and organization, conducting inspections, and providing training to optimize workflow, efficiency, and a clean work environment.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, & Skills required)

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse team leadership within a distribution center; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in using ERP or Distribution Systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates the ability to design workflows and procedures, generate innovative solutions, identify and resolve issues promptly, and coordinate projects effectively.
  • Displays proficiency in project management and coordination.
  • Exhibits professional experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Shows the capacity to generate creative solutions.
  • Has the ability to read and interpret various documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrates skill in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Possesses effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to address groups of customers or employees in an organization.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in work.
  • Displays diligence in completing tasks in a timely manner, utilizing effective time management skills.
  • Maintains a strong focus on safety, adhering to safety and security procedures.
  • Requires strong leadership abilities, both in managing direct reports and leading others.
