How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Aerospace Assembly Technician, you will perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations. You will work from diagrams and drawings, make initial layouts, and use hand and/or power tools. You will make continuity checks on work in process and completed. You may conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. Additionally, Assembly Technicians will disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

What you’ll be doing as an Assembly Tech I:

  • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location.
  • Preferred shift time is Monday - Friday, 6am – 2:30pm. There is also regularly requested overtime Mon. – Fri. 2:30pm - 4:30pm and Saturday from 5am – 10am.
  • Using hand and power tools, assemble a variety of parts, sub-assemblies, or complete units to specified tolerances.
  • Inserting Heli coils.
  • Inserting bushings, bearings, and pins using Arbor press
  • Touch up paint, apply epoxy coatings and sealants.
  • Marking parts with engravers, vibro-peen, chem-etch, or laser.
  • Production testing using hydraulic and other test methods.
  • Follow written instructions, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
  • Completes all daily record keeping, part count and part traceability with consistent accuracy.
  • Adheres to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the company, state, and federal authorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Available to work a full-time position with pre-determined shift times.
  • Comfortable working a temp-to-hire position.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity.
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing.
  • Strong skills and aptitude in shop mathematics.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Have working knowledge of hand tools, arbor and hydraulic presses, torque wrench, engravers, vibropeen, etc.
  • Experience inserting Heli coils using manual and pneumatic tools.
  • Experience with inspection tools (calipers, Micrometers, pin gages) and inspecting to blueprint.
  • Understanding and ability to follow work instructions and test procedures.
  • Understanding of assembly skills, including installation processes, tool uses, set up techniques, etc.
  • Experience with Mechanical Assembly
  • Has performed production testing using Hydraulic test benches.

Work Environment:

A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

The Assembly Tech Level 1 Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $18-20/hr. commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
