Transportation Manager

We are looking for an experienced Transportation Manager to organize and assist in overseeing the daily operations of all transportation aspects of the company. The area of responsibility for this role is focused on the transportation and dispatch side of the company, therefore a thorough knowledge of various company processes is preferred including but not limited to, fleet management, driver training, and dispatch. The ideal candidate must be competent and able to plan many different kinds of operational activities, including drivers' schedules, vehicle management, dispatch decisions, customer relations, and training and safety . He/She must be an excellent leader who can discover the most efficient ways to run the manage the transportation elements of the business. The goal is to safeguard and augment the efficiency of the company’s operations to facilitate accelerating development and long-term success. This is a logistics company and familiarity with terminology and processes is needed. The ability to operate a forklift and get hands on is a must. Also must have current DOT medical card.

Responsibilities

• Assist the CEO in planning and monitoring the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress
• Manage training and safety practices with all new and current drivers
• Supervise drivers and dispatch provide constructive feedback
• Evaluate regularly the efficiency according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
• Oversee customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction
• Evaluate overall driver performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
• Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations
• Ensure the company fleet of box trucks and sprinter vans is maintained, safe, and clean
• Work with dispatch to organize and ensure customer satisfaction and delivery efficiency.
• Maintain friendly, proactive communication with all parties until deliveries are complete.
• Ensure billing accurately reflects the services tendered and making sure daily reports/POD's and the like are correct from dispatch and submitted in a timely matter to whom necessary.
• Assist the Warehouse Supervisor in organization, tracking, and scheduling as needed.
• Some delivery driving may be required to assist in making sure all jobs are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Keeping up on the cleanliness and maintenance of all vehicles; scheduling service as needed and keeping track of all vehicle related work.
• Assist HR in interviewing potential drivers, performance reviews and disciplinary meetings as requested.

Skills

• Proven experience as Transportation Manager or equivalent position
• Proven experience as a dispatcher in any industry with a team of 10+ drivers
• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
• Outstanding communication and people skills
• Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines
• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
• Familiarity with Google Workspace is a MUST
• Familiarity with Digital Waybill and other various business softwares are a HUGE plus (e.g. ERP, CRM)
• MUST have valid drivers license with an F Endorsement
• MUST have a current Medical DOT card
• MUST have a clean driving record within the past 3 years
