The Associate Director, Project Management, provides strategic oversight and guidance on department and company goals and initiatives. The individual in this position mentors and facilitates an efficient and effective management team by managing company processes and systems within its mission statement, policy, and vision. He/She will be responsible for all aspects of the department, including quality and performance, budget, staff, resourcing, and support of project deliverables.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Oversee management of CMC projects to support the development and commercialization of cellular therapies through customized services such as process development, technology/method transfer, validation, product manufacturing, distribution, storage, and transportation.

Advise cross-functional teams and facilitate decision making for optimization and coordination of best practices.

Maintains a portfolio-level view of all projects and programs within the organization.

Continuously improve Project Management Office tools, such as project charters, communication, and governance plans, project plans, hours reports.

Form a team of business project managers that can be deployed towards complex, multi- functional business-related projects that serve to improve company financial goals.

Responsible for selection, training, development, and performance management of project managers.

Chair appropriate senior-level steering committee involving senior leaders for the site that ensures proper governance.

Be the main point of escalation and problem solver for client-related issues.

Support operational excellence within the company by partnering with business functions and applying and promoting a business process improvement framework.

Provide advice and counsel to senior management on appropriate project/processes to streamline project coordination and decision-making.

Provides project management mentorship and training to the project management team.

Establish self-driven business objectives to result in additional revenue annually. Optimize the profitability of client programs to meet or exceed the department budget through cost savings and refining workflow processes.

Recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies, contingencies, and actions to be taken.

Successfully engage with clients and support business development in global business needs.

Ensure services provided to clients are compliant with company policies, procedures, SOP's, GMP, client contractual expectations, and specific regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with management to assure projects are meeting corporate and client objectives.

Optimize the profitability of client programs to meet or exceed the department budget through cost savings and refining workflow processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university (a degree in life sciences, engineering, or business is preferred).

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Minimum 5 years project management experience with 2+ year's relevant experience in business operations.

A high degree of customer focus and collaboration in a team environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Advanced interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the company.

Experience developing compelling business cases.

Advanced conflict management and resolution skills.

Matrix management skills and ability to drive diverse teams towards a common purpose.

Strong experience in leading diverse teams and be well versed in project and program management techniques and methodologies.

Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, organizational, and budget management.

Ability to work on multiple projects, manage various priorities and timelines, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Demonstrates leadership in managing for high performance, attracting talent, and communicating effectively to influence with impact.

Proficiency in project management principles, practices, and tools such as MS Project (Gantt charts) is required.

Strong leadership, influencing, and management skills.

Experience with the preparation of reports or presentations/communications via presentation tools such as PowerPoint, project dashboards, and written reports.
