SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

YOU'RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE you share our values. You will thrive supporting our team with all aspects of project management and business development. You will leverage your in-depth understanding of biology, state and federal regulations and environmental consulting to assist Sequoia in growing our project portfolio, mentoring staff, and leading some of our most complex compliance projects located throughout California, supporting a variety of clients. You are a "seller doer" who is experienced in project management and staff coordination, deliverable oversight and QAQC, business development, field surveys, impacts analysis, permit assessment, and report preparation for biological work.

You will impact the team by:

  • Managing environmental projects ranging from biological assessments and documentation, scheduling to meet deadline goals, allocating resources, collecting data, writing reports, and communicating with team members and clients.
  • Preparing environmental permitting application packages with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Assisting clients and staff with the interpretation of current local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assisting clients and staff with environmental permitting, compliance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinating with USACE, USFWS, CDFW, RWQCB, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Working closely with clients to successfully design and oversee projects from inception to completion.
  • Working with leadership and marketing team on strategic pursuits. Identify and develop new business opportunities. Prepare budgets, proposals, and conduct business development and client outreach
  • Ensuring quality, scheduling, and budget objectives are met.
  • Actively participating in key trade organizations and in the marketplace.
  • Leading multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for staff to reach out to with questions, concerns, and direction.
  • Striving to build long-term and effective relationships with clients and the Sequoia team.
  • Supervising 3-6 direct reports and overseeing a team of no more than 15 project managers and biologists.


WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU...

Have these Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
  • BS or MS in environmental studies, biology, natural resources, ecology, forestry, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years project manager experience in consulting, including cost estimating, scheduling, scope development and management, and proposals and marketing.
  • Experience leading biological planning, permitting, compliance, or mitigation projects and/or programs.
  • Thorough understanding of CEQA, NEPA and other federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity and experience with State and Federal regulatory permitting processes such as CDFW 1600 SAA, RWQCB 401, 404, Section 7 consultations with FWS, etc.
  • Understanding of procurement processes for environmental consulting.
  • Experience supervising others (mentoring, managing workload, goal setting, annual reviews, etc.).
  • Experience preparing or contributing to biological assessment reports and other documentation.
  • Working with regulatory agencies and technical experts within California.
  • Experience and knowledge of California flora and fauna required.
