Job Description

Structural Engineer, SE

Job Description:

The ideal candidate is a licensed structural engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience designing and modifying building structures. This person will have extensive experience in the design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures. We are looking for an individual who can manage their own time while working with and mentoring other engineers.

 

Experience in the telecommunications sector is preferred, but not required.

 

Essential Functions:

●     Review and markup construction drawings, including structural detailing as necessary.

●     Coordinate with A&E Managers to determine what structural calculations are necessary for life safety, to obtain permit, or to satisfy client requirements.

●     Review existing as-builts to obtain necessary information, or to determine what additional information is required to perform necessary structural calculations deemed necessary.

●     Self-perform or delegate the production of structural calculations.

●     Assist contractors during the construction phase of a project.

●     Be a subject matter expert during calls with clients.

●     Manage your own schedule in coordination with the Engineering Manager to meet the needs of our clients.

 

Qualifications:

●     A bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering is required.

●     A master’s degree in civil or structural engineering is preferred.

●     A California Structural Engineer license is preferred.

●     A California Professional Engineer license is required.

●     Candidate must have the ability to gain licensure in other states, specifically Hawaii and Nevada.

●     Candidate must have extensive experience with the California/International Building Code, ASCE 7 (specifically Chapters 12, 15, 29, and 30), and the relevant codes for different construction materials.

●     Experience using RISA-3D, Enercalc, Bluebeam, and similar analysis & markup software is required.

●     Experience managing small teams is preferred.

●     Experience in the telecommunications sector is preferred.

●     Engineer will be required to review, sign, and stamp drawings and calculations.

 

Job Specifications:

●     Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.

●     The ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and good communication is critical.

●     The use of a personal vehicle. Employees must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess an appropriate valid driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.

●     Irregular hours, occasional evening, and weekend work when needed may be required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit at a computer workstation and work for prolonged periods; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
