Premier Orthodontics is a fast growing, fun office that is looking to add a Insurance Coordinator to our awesome finance department! If you like to have fun and work hard this is the place for you! Duties primarily include verifying insurance while communicating directly with Treatment Coordinators to present accurate coverage of insurance benefits to our patients when presenting treatment plans.



POSITION SUMMARY

The Insurance Coordinator is essential to the success of the patient experience. By providing detailed insurance benefit information you are helping each patient make an informed decision regarding the financial impact of their treatment. Your ability to accurately input insurance profiles will assist the Treatment Coordinators significantly as they work to prepare and present every treatment plan.

The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for inputting all insurance profiles into patient charts in the practice Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Additionally, the Insurance Coordinator will obtain a breakdown of benefits from the patient’s insurance company. This individual will input profiles and notate all benefit and coverage estimates in each patient’s chart prior to the patients’ initial consultation with the doctor.

  • Provide, and complete insurance paperwork and obtain information from patients’ insurance provider(s) as needed to ensure payment.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment regarding coverage and insurance estimates.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use practice software systems.
  • Specialized understanding and experience in handling insurance matters in a medical setting.
  • Actively pursues provision of excellent customer service service.
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
  • Must maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.
  • Complete an average of 32-38 VOIB checks daily.?
  • Verify insurance coverage up to 7 days prior to appointment.?
  • VOIB must be completed 48 hours before the patient's appointment.?
  • Track pending VOIB by schedule.?
  • Prioritize Today, then tomorrow, then Next ?
  • Utilize Insurance Company’s portals first, manually call for any information not provided on portal?
  • Creating and managing Employer Groups benefit templates in ‘Insurance Plans’ to automate process?
  • Contacting patients whose insurance benefits cannot be verified. ?
  • Follow up with patient on any unverified insurance for appointments the day before the appointment?
  • Put notes in appointment for front office team if patient cannot be reached. ?




Requirements:

Skills and Abilities

  • Relationship building skills

  • Computer skills including practice management software
  • Familiarity with Orthodontic insurance protocols
  • Familiarity with ADA codes that pertain to Orthodontics
  • Ability to function within a team environment and be a supportive and positive contributor
  • Superb verbal skills with, insurance companies, third party companies and team
  • Ability to take direction for personal improvement
  • Overall comprehension of practice vision, mission and systems
  • Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards.
  • Must be detail oriented in order to maintain accurate input and reporting of insurance profiles and benefits.
  • Must excel in forward thinking in order to anticipate the needs of the doctor as well as the patient.
  • Must be flexible and understand that job duties may change from time to time and that this individual may be asked to assist in other areas of the office.
  • Must demonstrate active listening by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Must demonstrate good reading comprehension by understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills by talking to others to convey information effectively.
