Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Finance, Commercial Operations, is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial aspects related to the commercial operations of the company. This individual will provide guidance and direction to optimize financial performance, support growth initiatives, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to drive financial excellence and facilitate decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of financial acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to effectively navigate the complexities of commercial operations and help drive sustainable, profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy Development: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's commercial objectives and overall business goals. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management on financial matters related to commercial operations.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the financial planning and analysis process for commercial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and variance analysis. Monitor key financial metrics and performance indicators to assess the financial health of commercial operations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Commercial Deal Analysis: Evaluate the financial viability and profitability of commercial deals, partnerships, and business opportunities. Conduct thorough financial analysis, risk assessments, and scenario planning to support decision-making and mitigate financial risks.
  • Pricing Strategy: Collaborate with the commercial, product and business unit leadership teams to develop pricing strategies that maximize revenue and profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market. Analyze pricing trends, customer behavior, and market dynamics to optimize pricing structures.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Business Development: Support strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and business development activities related to commercial operations. Assess financial implications, conduct due diligence, and participate in negotiation processes to drive successful outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in financial processes, systems, and methodologies. Identify opportunities to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology to optimize financial performance.
  • Financial Controls and Compliance: Establish and maintain robust financial controls and compliance processes within commercial operations. Ensure adherence to internal processes and policies, to mitigate financial risks.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Provide strong leadership and guidance to the finance team supporting commercial operations. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Develop talent within the team to enhance capabilities and drive professional growth.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, commercial teams, and operational leaders. Serve as a trusted advisor on financial matters and contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with commercial operations, including market volatility, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes. Develop risk mitigation strategies to safeguard financial assets and optimize business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional certifications preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in senior finance leadership roles, preferably within the commercial sector of a dynamic and fast-paced organization.
  • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of financial principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools, ERP/CRM systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical business practices.

Salary Range: $225,000 - $275,000

The salary range provided represents what a potential hire may expect to earn in this role at BGB. Actual salary decisions will be influenced by several factors that we use to determine overall fit, including experience (both direct and indirect), education, training, demonstrated qualifications, and organizational need. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at BGB Group.
