Job Description

TITLE: Crisis Intervention Director

FT/PT: Full time (35+ hours per week, may include some evenings and weekends)

CLASSIFICATION: Salaried Exempt

PAY GROUP: Level 21

REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer

SUPERVISES: Advocates & Volunteers

FUNCTION: Crisis Intervention Director is licensed counselor who works specifically as a domestic abuse counselors; sexual assault intervention specialists; and substance abuse counseling. The Director will reinforce an agency culture that is positive, accountable, and responsive to the needs of clients, the staff, and the community at large. The Crisis Intervention Director role is to help clients in crisis who have experienced difficulties in navigating the challenges they will face in the days, weeks, and months to come. Duties include counseling one-on-one with clients, documenting their situation and progress, working with other advocates and coordinators involved in the case, helping procure services by working with other agencies, and more. Must be Illinois Certified CADC and QMHP certifications a plus; and/or AAETS


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using intermediate level skills, conducts comprehensive client assessment: works with more complex cases.
  • Develops a written service plan with the client to meet client need, specifying goals to be achieved and services to be pursued.
  • Supplements/service plans to meet client needs.
  • As appropriate, provides advocacy, case management, and supportive counseling to individuals, families, and groups in coping with environment and interpersonal relationship issues.
  • Uses expanded knowledge of resources and helps clients utilize them. Works collaboratively with community resources.
  • Works within contract, grant, and program requirements including meeting timelines and reporting requirements.
  • Reassess and monitor client situation and adequacy of service plan.
  • Collaborates and participates with other program staff in the planning and implementation of service plans.
  • With supervisory approval, authorizes limited amounts of financial assistance to own clients.
  • Identifies systems issues and reports to Program Director as appropriate. May work with community groups and may carry a special community assignment.
  • Takes increasing responsibility for own professional development, utilizing supervision and other developmental opportunities within and outside the agency to enhance skills and understanding.
  • Works effectively with diverse staff and service populations.
  • Develops the knowledge and skills needed to address the complexities of ANE and collaborate with community resources to reduce risk.
  • Works with supervisor/s, other staff members, support staff and/or student/s to meet the day to day needs and goals of the program.
  • Handles emergency and crisis situations within target population which may include appropriate use of financial assistance and engagement of first responders.
  • Provides community outreach activities to raise awareness of agency programs.
  • Facilitate regular Shift Supervisor meetings and other communication strategies to ensure program employees are aware and have input into problem solving strategies
  • Share responsibility for being on-call; maintain flexibility for on premises activity
  • Work with the Shift and Site Supervisors to ensure that program employees receive clinical supervision
  • Manage the program using data/reports, productivity, timeliness standards, establish metrics of program role toward implementation of the organization’s mission and values
  • Focus on continual refinement of operational processes within the program
  • Champion review of team processes, workflows, and activities
  • Clearly articulate project requirements and anticipated outcomes to the Program Management Team for identified projects/strategies to improve the efficiency of the clinical operations to meet cost and quality goals
  • Determine accountabilities, communicate and reinforce agency values
  • Influence organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction
  • Participate in various management committees Establish operational strategies by evaluating trends, establish critical measurements, determine production, productivity, quality, and customer service strategies, design systems, accumulate resources, resolve problems and implement changes
  • Develop action plans, measure and analyze results, initiate corrective action, minimize the impact of variances
  • Maintain expenditures within the current operating budget and guidelines set by the Executive Director
  • Prepare administrative reports required by the Executive Leadership Team and funding sources
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, maintaining personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand current and future service requirement
  • Ensure standard processes that result in quality services and align with the agencies goals for all people seeking services

Marginal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be flexible and multi-task, work within ambiguous fast-moving environment, while driving toward clarity and solutions
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
  • Demonstrate excellent people skills used to collaborate with partnering leaders, Demonstrate proficiency in relevant software and applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Relate to a diverse population which includes a variety of age, economic and educational backgrounds
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Consistently exercise superior customer service to individuals, families, other agencies and the community
  • Apply critical thinking/decision making skills utilizing data
  • Apply trauma informed principles and values with knowledge, decisions, and treatment of all people served
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary environment and manage evolving needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s Degree in social service or related field with one (1) year of applicable experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree with two (2) or more years of experience in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of case management experience in a social service or healthcare setting required.
  • Five of more years of LEADERSHIP experience required
  • Must be Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (within 1 year of hire date).
  • CADC and QMHP certifications a plus; and/or AAETS
  • Must have 40-hour domestic violence training (within 3 months of hire date).
  • Must be CPR/first aid certified (within 6 months of hire).
