Salary: $45,000/year

SUMMARY: The Database Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the database and the integrity of the data assets of Virginia MOCA.  This role will enhance the performance of the database to meet departmental needs through developing queries, maintaining data integrity, organizing data, and designing procedures that meet Virginia MOCA standards.


SCHEDULE: 9-5 Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as Virginia MOCA’s lead database administrator.
  • Audit current internal data collection, processing, and analysis operations.
  • Contribute to database development by researching integrations to assist with the museum’s digital transformation.
  • Enter data, update content, run queries, export data, and conduct research in various software.
  • Work closely with all departments to troubleshoot and support direction with software and data access, including onsite assistance to users.
  • Design spreadsheets for an administrative review that consolidate data, use pivot tables and maximize accessibility to datasets. Assist with preparing weekly departmental performance reports and provide reports when needed.
  • Perform routine tasks like backups, updates, and optimizations to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with user accounts, permissions, and access levels to ensure that staff have the appropriate access to data assets while maintaining security and compliance.
    • Report data breaches or suspicious activity to IT partners.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures for database users.
  • Manage cross-departmental database use and training by creating database manuals, governance, and procedure documentation.
  • Assist Institutional Advancement and Marketing departments with planning annual appeals, small gift campaigns, system communication campaigns and reports.
  • Follow Virginia MOCA Development Department rules and guidelines to ensure a donor-centered approach to fundraising and compliance with ethical and technical standards in fundraising software used.
  • Other duties as assigned include all museum events and the annual Boardwalk Art Show.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • 2 years of database management experience.
  • Computer Science degree preferred.
  • Must have qualifications: SQL, Python, or other language experience in data-cleaning operations.
  • Knowledge of the following software and systems: QuickBooks, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) System, Eventbrite, Mailchimp.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
