JOB SUMMARY: Supervises operation of schedule service in the field through route checks for on-time performance and observation of driver performance for compliance with established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor on-time performance of scheduled service and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Investigate accidents/incidents in manner consistent with DOT accident investigation training.
- Respond to driver calls for assistance in fare box and MDT malfunctions, or wheelchair lift failures.
- Assist in solving customer complaints/disputes, transporting guaranteed ride home clients and drivers as needed.
- Audits service, design schedule detours and reroutes as needed, as construction, weather, accidents, or special events require.
- Supervise driver performance and compliance with all laws and company regulations. Recommend disciplinary and counseling action as necessary.
- Responsible for monitoring, counseling, and team building with assigned group of driver work force towards improved customer service.
- Monitors and coach’s operator performance and behavior; models passenger interaction skills, coaches’ operators in use of time, checks and instructs periodically on proper revenue, transfers and farebox data collection, and recommends training or retraining, as appropriate to ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Conducts time point and passenger load checks to ensure schedule and route efficiency.
- Writes reports regarding service disruptions, security incidents and operator performance/behavior in accordance with policies and procedures. May assist operators in filing of reports.
- Assesses ability of operators to continue in service when investigating accidents, incidents, and potential substance abuse problems.
- Performs as assigned during special events and weather emergencies to minimize service disruption.
- Performs physical work as needed, such as assisting stuck/off route buses, making bus trades, and helping wheelchair passengers on or off buses, etc.
- Must have knowledge of attendance policy, labor contract, MTTA Employee Handbooks, and DOT rules and regulations.
- Schedules time checks as assigned by the Transportation Manager and Rideshare Services Manager on daily basis ensuring 100% completion.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
- Serves as a back up to the dispatch or operators as needed or directed. Assists when there is a manpower shortage or with other supervisory duties.
- Supervise operations at special event shuttles.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold a current CDL A or B Driver’s License with passenger endorsement or must obtain one within 120 days. Must be able to competently operate all MTTA vehicles. Must have computer skills.
