MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

(BSME with 3 years manufacturing experience)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Manufacturing Engineers help direct, coordinate, and actively participate in creating a sustainable culture of continuous improvement with focus on manufacturing processes and supporting infrastructure. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the stamping, metal forming and metal finishing processes through continuous improvement and capital project investment. Key Responsibilities include assessment of current processes, participating in the development of the future state vision, and execution to reach targets in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Manufacturing Engineer- Performs product evaluation and complex assembly analysis.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Assesses current state of stamping, metal forming and metal finishing equipment and drive future state vision of standardized manufacturing hardware and software.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Designs and evaluates DOE's.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Works across functions and departments to develop, document and standardize processes and procedures for current products and equipment.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Leads cross-functional teams in the analysis of equipment / process problems to reduce defects and unscheduled downtime.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Confers with tooling, engineering, planning, operations and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Leads process development and optimization of new production equipment and machines.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Specifies, calculates ROI, and implements new equipment purchases or process improvements.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Directly supports new product quotations.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Independently leads new product launches and communicates with other engineers, tooling designers, maintenance, operators, engineers from other disciplines, along with line and program management and Customers, and our Executive Team.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Works cross-functionally to develop and document and standardize processes and procedures for current products and equipment (setup, change over, troubleshooting, & PM's).
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Assists with training operators on processes and procedures.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Trains and mentors' employees in improvement techniques to build a stronger lean / continuous improvement culture.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Assists with training operators on processes and procedures.
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Assists in support documentation of processes to maintain conformity throughout production (i.e., process maps, dashboards, FMEAs, and control plans).
  • Manufacturing Engineer- Develops IQ, OQ, PQ methodology for new equipment / process builds.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:
  • BSME from Accredited University
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • 3 plus years of professional work experience in a high-volume stamping manufacturing environment preferred
  • Stamping/progressive die experience preferred
  • Exposure to Lean 6S, belts are a plus
  • MS Office, 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks, Auto CAD or Creo), MathCad
  • Experience in tooling design software such as Logopress preferred
  • Experience with project management and planning
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to provide feedback both orally and in writing
  • Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines for same
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and project execution

  • This position will spend most of the time on the shop floor. Some work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and machining processes is and essential requirement of this engineering position. the ability and agility to enter confined areas while lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. is required.
  • Applicant must be safety oriented. Requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Weekend and non-standard work hours may be required by projects
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (safety Glasses, Gloves, Hearing protection.
  • Noise exposure is light to moderate.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, personnel policies, graphs and other production documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form senior leaders, departmental managers and directors.

Additional Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time. Employees must be able to stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, reach overhead, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, reading a computer screen and small print.
