Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing for both union and nonunion employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Process weekly union and nonunion payroll

·         Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, contributions, and leave to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, wage determinations, and current federal and state law

·         Compute and disburse garnishments and other withholdings

·         Review payroll for accuracy and make necessary corrections

·         Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports and files

·         Prepare and submit union reports and remit payment

·         Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and remit payment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

·         Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies

·         Maintain accurate payroll records, including new hire setup and all changes. Ensure records are organized and accessible for audits and inquiries

·         Handle payroll inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies

·         Perform payroll year end procedures, including W-2s and ACA reporting

·         Assist with audit preparation for year end, workers compensation, union, and job audits

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Abilities:

·         Minimum 2 years of experience in construction accounting and payroll required

·         High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Accounting or related field highly desired

·         Preference will be given to candidates with Sage 300 experience

·         Microsoft Office experience required, particularly Excel

  • Ability to identify and resolve payroll problems promptly, answer inquiries, and enforce payroll policies

·         High attention to detail and accuracy

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·         Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

·         Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

·         Ability to pass a background and drug screening
