Job Summary

ARA is seeking a talented and highly motivated detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to support the development of Products via 2-D additive manufacturing. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the development of materials and processes utilized in our 2-D roll-to-roll manufacturing areas. ARA’s additive manufacturing systems require the ability to debug hardware issues, manipulate print files using various software tools, and management of printing tasks. You will work both individually and with a team of engineers, scientists, program management, and material suppliers to meet technical milestones and production goals.

  • Operate multiple 2D additive manufacturing systems to support the manufacture of final products and prototypes.
  • Perform process optimization and development activities.
  • Characterize new inks, surface treatments, substrates, and coatings by performing and analyzing data from various materials characterization techniques including electrical and physical measurements.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for the equipment, processes, and materials.
  • Support the design, transition, and implementation of the manufacturing scale-up
  • Develop, update, and follow process specifications to support the manufacture and characterization of printed products.
  • Develop new processes and materials systems by working with fellow ARA engineers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Work individually and with ARA's team of engineers, management, and subcontractors to develop competitive solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Support whitepapers, demonstrations, and proposals used to identify, qualify, and/or capture new products and product development business.
  • Work with ARA's engineers and management to identify customer requirements and define solutions for customers that achieve overall company goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and support management of technical tasks to meet the overall project objectives.
  • Support the creation of work authorizations to guide completion of tasks.
  • Identify potential issues/risks and develop and implement solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations; Enhance Company reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.

Experience and Skills

  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Must the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • 3-6 years of work experience in technical field (More experience would be considered for a higher-level role
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and always changing environment.
  • Ability to contribute to multi-disciplinary projects not necessarily confined to his/her area of expertise.
  • Good organizational and writing skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, enjoy teamwork, and excel in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of common software tools, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Willing and eager to learn.
  • Ability to travel, as required, to other ARA sites, prospective and existing partners, subcontractors, and customer facilities.
  • Web handling and roll-to-roll coating experience a plus.

Education

  • B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is required (Masters preferred
