Job Description

Summary

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing the payroll functions of the College.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer semi-monthly faculty, staff and bi-weekly union, student and hourly payrolls.
  • Work with Financial Aid to process new student worker documentation.
  • Submits federal, and all applicable state taxes and local deposits.
  • Responsible for submitting all garnishments, Union dues and other payroll related debts in a timely manner.
  • Complete quarterly tax forms and respond to tax notices.
  • Gain an in depth understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement payroll implications,
  • Assist in union contract negotiations regarding paid time off.
  • Processes check requests for various payroll deductions.
  • Collect, calculate, verify and input employee time records into payroll system.
  • Work with Human Resources and Accounting staff to reconcile related liability and payroll bank accounts.
  • Prepare payroll reports for Sr. Leadership as requested.
  • Maintain employee files: active and inactive filing.
  • Participate in the annual ERISA and Financial Statement Audit processes.
  • Answer routine questions regarding policies, procedures and benefits. Refer questions to Director as required.
  • Completes surveys and reports as requested.
  • Coding and processing and of invoices.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or B.S. degree required, some coursework in accounting preferred.
  • Must be extremely detail-orientated.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • 3 years payroll experience required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be responsive and supportive to all levels of employees.
  • Ellucian Colleague experience a preferred.
