Senior Level Mechanic

Summary/Objective This position supports the Fleet Manager in the Locke Transportation Repair Shop. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Proficiency in Manager Plus, Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS), or the ability to learn program quickly and download on your phone. Answer any incoming calls with ability to communicate well over the phone with internal staff and vendors when necessary. Standard data entry on work orders in Manager Plus software. Ability to diagnose truck repairs, chassis repairs and trailer repairs Ability to use computer to diagnose DEF system codes Able to diagnose engine/transmission issues Able to communicate with driving team on how to drive more efficiently in order to create less abuse on vehicles. Maintain/Check Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) Keep an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups. Work with manager to locate any parts not in stock Complete special-order parts requests for any parts that need to be ordered Must follow all company safety policies and procedures Able to lift over 50lbs and stand/walk for long periods of time. Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations applicable to industry. Perform other duties as assigned. Able to maintain accountability for parts used when repairing equipment. Able to work with others. Transportation is a must. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This position works in a trucking repair shop setting, with outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses diesel mechanical tools such as power tools, wrenches, Jacks, etc. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Requires standing for a prolonged period. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires maximum reaching for items above and below shelves. Requires strength, coordination and vision to use when handling tools and equipment/parts. This position requires the technician to work in a very loud environment. Assisting mechanics and drivers with issues with truck and chassis. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 50 hours per week. Hours and start/end times subject to change as business needs require. Must be able to work atleast 1 Saturday per month. Travel There are no travel expectations for this position. Occasionally pick up parts with company vehicle. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED, or one to two years related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience required. Previous repair shop experience preferred.
