Machinist 1 (night shift)

Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 2nd shift Machinist position available with our Power Systems Division at our San Antonio, Texas location. We are located at 5665 SE Loop 410 San Antonio, TX 78222. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm to midnight. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and Machining services on cylinder heads on diesel and natural gas engines in order satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals.

Duties include:

• Tearing down, cleaning, inspecting, and assembling cylinder heads on diesel and natural gas engines.
• Assist other machinists with repair tasks on diesel and natural gas engines.
• Take out broken bolts from diesel and natural gas engine components.
• Clean the shop area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• At least 1 year of basic diesel engine or diesel components repair skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Graduation from a diesel technology and/or a machining program preferred
• Experience with polishing crankshafts & camshafts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Ability to perform basic repairs correctly in the machine shop environment.
• Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
• Ability to read a micrometer.
• Ability to learn multiple machine shop operations
• Must have own hand tools.
• Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively with a high energy level.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds about 24 times a day.
• Need to obtain a forklift certification within 30 days of employment.
