Job Description

Sanitation Manager
ABM is currently seeking a Industrial Sanitation Manager - Bakery in Smyrna, GA for our customer who is a leader of quality baked goods. You must have -- Food Sanitation Experience!
Responsibilities to include:
Documents and maintains cleaning schedules and follows up with regular audits including yearly BRC, Long Audits and other scoring audits.
-Trains, schedules and supervises the sanitation team to maintain the plant and equipment in a sanitary manner.

Be flexible to work with sanitation team by working with different shifts and weekends as required.
Assist with environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance.
Inputs requirements and budgets for efficient operation of the department and operates within the guidelines of the budget.
Manage department spending against budget.

Ensures that adequate cleaning materials are ordered monthly.
Works on and/or leads Continuous Improvement teams.

Education:

**** This position prefers a post-secondary degree, AIB training and Food industry experience.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work closely with others in a team atmosphere. Coaching and training skills are also necessary. Computer skills in MS Office applications is required. Organizational and communication skills are also a must. He or she must have the ability to prioritize the workload and delegate responsibilities as needed. Physical demands of this work require that the Sanitation Manager have the ability to work in extreme environments (including hot, cold, wet, dusty and slick places) and be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently (on an occasional basis).

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring proper sanitation throughout the facility and meets all regulatory requirements. Recommends improvements in manufacturing methods and sanitation practices to management.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/MAJOR DUTIES

· Plans, manages and directs plant sanitation procedures, programs and regulatory requirements ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production. Ensures compliance with all standard operating procedures and Facility Work Rules. (AIB, BRC, FDA, etc.)

· Develops operating policies and procedures for Sanitation as necessary.

· Oversees the tailoring and documenting of plant procedures related to approved cleaning chemicals and Master Cleaning Schedules.

· Ensures compliance with all Company policies and procedures (EEOC, Sexual Harassment, Safety, etc.). Position is responsible for ensuring staff is fully trained in and operates within the parameters of the facility’s Sanitation Program with regards to site and product security.

· Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth.

· Communicates performance standards to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems. Ensures all associates have the resources and capabilities to effectively accomplish their responsibilities.

· Monitors microbiological reports from the plant to determine whether cleaning procedures are being followed. Implements corrective action as necessary.

· Participates in regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality and sanitation improvements. Facilitates problem resolution related to sanitation and quality issues.

· Develops, maintains and reports required operational information to management.

  • Maintain all customer contract specifications and responds to customer issues as required.

· Ensures that all GMP and Safety standards are in compliance and documentation of records maintained per company policy.

· Participates in weekly GMP, sanitation and safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects, or issues work orders to correct, any identified deficiencies.

· Follows up on work orders, with the appropriate employees to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work.

· Keeps abreast of latest manufacturing technologies, systems, and sanitation practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS

LICENSE - Required to possess-/maintain a valid license to operate forklift.

MOBILITY - Physically capable of unimpeded movement to all areas of plant. Able to climb fixed and portable ladders. Able to crawl under and climb onto machinery and equipment. Able to enter and exit confined spaces.

SENSORY - Ability to distinguish color coded equipment. Vision enough to distinguish operating lights and panels on machinery and equipment. Must be able to hear and identify audible alarm system. Must be able to hear and identify normal and abnormal equipment operating sounds.

Ability to work in 100-degree environment.

COMMUNICATION - Speech and hearing abilities that allow the individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English (in person and via telephone) and/or other language, if required.

Ability to generate written communication. Ability to read and review written communication.

OTHER - Ability to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc. Must have ability to wear/use approved applicable safety equipment, as needed. Ability to research, ascertain, develop implement and monitor required policies and procedures.

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Three (3) or more years' experience in plant sanitation. Demonstrated knowledge in pest control and other required governmental standards.
