Overview

As an Avid Practice Development Engineer, you are a highly involved member of both the Care and Professional Services teams. You are responsible for providing architecture oversight and scoping to helping the support teams become more effective. You will also collaborate with other engineers, consultants, and clients to design, implement, and optimize solutions meeting their business needs and expectations. You have extensive knowledge and experience in Avid Practice technologies and services, as well as industry best practices and regulatory standards. You are a proactive, creative, and customer-oriented problem solver, who strives to deliver high-quality results ensuring customer satisfaction. A Development Engineer at Avid Practice is a senior IT professional who provides technical support and guidance to clients and internal staff. They are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues. They also collaborate with vendors, contractors, and management by evaluating and recommending solutions for IT projects and upgrades. They have extensive knowledge and experience in various technologies, such as SQL, .NET, API Integrations, Organizational Git Repositories, Azure Architecture, CI/CD Practices, Active Directory, DNS, Virtualization, Server Functions/Roles, Azure Infrastructure, and a keen interest in Generative AI and LLM. They also will interface directly with some of our clients as an additional development resource.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the user requirements and translate them into software design and performance specifications.
  • Assist with architecture and overall design.
  • Assist with pricing and scoping.
  • Application Integrations Setup, Management & Maintenance.
  • Review software requirements and obtain information on the project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces with the system and hardware engineers.
  • Implement the recommendations for improving the documentation and software development process standards.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing the system performance standards, consulting with the users or system engineers, and investigating the problem areas.
  • Develop new software or modify existing software to add new features and functionalities.
  • Integrate software solutions into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Developing custom data models, queries, views, functions, and stored procedures using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or other tools.
  • Creating and maintaining processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, such as API, FTP, web services, Excel, etc., using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or other tools.
  • Implementing best practices for data quality, security, and performance.
  • Debug and fix software defects and errors.
  • Documenting and testing the software solutions ensuring quality and reliability.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Azure systems Lead.
  • Configure and Monitor backup and recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and data monitoring.
  • Support the database and software life-cycle activities to achieve high performance and availability.
  • Designing and developing interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, SSRS, or other tools.
  • Monitor, administer, and improve performance and security.

Tertiary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the outcomes and consequences of the design.
  • Suggest documentation and software development process standards improvements.
  • Develop or implement algorithms that meet or exceed the system performance and functional standards.
  • Provide user training and support.

The Development Engineer should also prepare some relevant questions to ask the CTO and CISO during the shadowing.

Be proactive: The Development Engineer should actively engage with the CTO and CISO and seek feedback and advice from them. The Development Engineer should also look for ways to contribute to the CTO and CISO’s work, such as sharing ideas, providing input, or helping.

Be observant: The Development Engineer should observe how the CTO and CISO communicate, collaborate, and make decisions with their teams and other stakeholders. The Development Engineer should also observe how the CTO and CISO handle various situations, such as managing risks, resolving issues, and implementing changes.

Be respectful: The Development Engineer should respect the time, privacy, and authority of the CTO and CISO, and follow their instructions and guidance.

Be reflective: The Development Engineer should reflect on what they learned and experienced, and how they can apply it to their own work and career development.
