Job Overview:

Our company is seeking a dedicated Rail Service Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves a combination of work in our Kansas City Fabrication and Maintenance teams, as well as field assignments where you'll represent our company directly with customers. As a Rail Service Specialist, you'll work in teams of 2-6 individuals, collaborating on fabrication projects, equipment repairs, and preventive maintenance.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teams in Kansas City on fabrication and maintenance projects.
  • Serve as the face of our company during field assignments, directly engaging with customers.
  • Assist with unloading welded rail, moving rail, unloading railroad track components, and providing other services like cropping and drilling of rail.
  • Conduct equipment repairs, install infrastructure, and provide general repair services at various company sites.
  • Uphold exemplary safety standards, particularly when climbing on and off rail cars.
  • Obtain a passport (with company assistance) and be capable of entry into Canada or Mexico.
  • Maintain a valid, clean driver's license.


Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with hydraulics preferred.
  • Welding experience is a plus; however, training will be provided by A&K.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Adhere to D.O.T. drug testing requirements and pass background checks for railroad property access.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 60-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 60 and 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to work any shift, when needed.


Travel: Must be prepared for frequent travel, potentially up to 3 weeks per month, throughout the US, Canada, or Mexico.
