Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: 

Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. Responsible for performing major servicing and repairs on a variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems for the Company’s fleet. Work may also be performed in the field and in all weather conditions. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and thorough.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES             :  

·       Diagnose and repair all types of issues for fleet of trucks  

·       Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace ignition, fuel, hydraulic, lighting, electrical/computer control systems  

·       Repair/ Rebuild engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic cylinders, axle groups, etc.  

·       Maintain service, maintenance and repair records  

·       Repair and maintain tools and machinery  ·       Prepare work orders and order parts  

·       Make emergency field repairs to on site mobile equipment as necessary  

·       Safely perform repairs in the field during inclement weather as necessary  

·       Determines vehicle and equipment conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.  

·       Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades.  

·       Corrects vehicle and equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, air conditioning, emission, brake, steering, completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.  

·       Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.  

·       Complies with federal and state vehicle and emission requirements.  

·       Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.  

·       Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.  

·       Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.  

·       Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.  

·       Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.  

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

·                Diesel mechanic: 1 year (Preferred)  

·                Basic mechanical: 3 years (Preferred)  

·                Horizonal Directional Drilling Rig: 3 years (Preferred)  

·                Excavator: 3 year (Preferred)  

 

 

REPORTS: 

·       Reports To: Fleet Manager

 

WORKFLOW: 

·       Accept work from Shop Supervisor/Operations Supervisors/Foremen and provide feedback on potential down-times of vehicles/equipment.  

·       Ensure all required tools, and equipment are available to successfully complete the work assigned.  

·       Coordinate equipment and labor to maximize efficiencies and volume.  

·       Ensure timely and accurate Time Sheets, Expense Reports, Production Reports, Inspections and other required reports.  

·       Ensure strict Quality Control and clean up.  

·       Review work completed on vehicles and equipment with Shop Supervisor.

 

PRODUCTION REPORTING/INVOICING: 

·       Ensure timely completion and actuary of:  

o   Production Reports  

o   Time Sheets  

o   Expense Reports  

o   Purchase Orders  

o   All other required documents.  

·       Approve these documents before advancing.
