Diesel Mechanic A
Overview: Responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and inspecting trucks and trailers. Duties include engine repairs, transmission work, and maintaining various vehicle systems.
Mechanic Classification: Class 8
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Expert in Computer Diagnostics.
- Expert in mechanical failure diagnosis.
- Performs Oil Changes amp; Oil leak repairs
- Knowledge of complete engine repair.
- Knowledge in valve adjustments.
- Repair of automatic and manual transmissions.
- Knowledge is DPF, DEF, A/C, ABS, ACC systems.
- Knowledge of Cummins, Detroit, Volvo engines.
- Perform corrective maintenance on trailers and trucks.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) on Trucks and Trailers.
- Perform physical-mechanical inspections of trailers and trucks daily.
- Capable of performing roadside repairs within a range of 50 miles.
- Skills to work in an exposed environment.
- Maintain a work environment with order and cleanliness.
- Performs related work as required
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Field Certifications preferred
- 3 + years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of certifications, additional years of directly relevant experience with a demonstrated record of successful performance may be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.
- Knowledge in Diesel Mechanics, basic truck driving knowledge, computer equipment use.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and odd and unusual hours when needed.
