Job Description
Overview:

The VIP and Catering Bartender is responsible for servicing our VIP locations like Eddie Logan Suite and Luxury suites as well as bartending catering events. He/She accurately and efficiently prepares high-quality cocktails, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks according to SAP standards with a friendly and up-beat attitude, and acts as a positive role model and brand ambassador for the SAP Hospitality department. The VIP and Catering Bartender oversees the appropriate use and recording of general inventory including end-of-month reconciliation, weekly and daily product ordering, ensures a positive interaction with guests, and steps in to handle problems with guests. The highest in ethical business practices along with excellent guest service skills are essential to the success of this position. This position requires a high degree of interaction and thorough verbal communication with individuals at all levels internally and externally.


Job Duties:

  • Maintains daily and monthly inventory by monitoring correct usage of other employees, requisitioning items to avoid running out of stock on a daily basis, monitoring FIFO rotation and end-of-month reconciliation, in addition to other tasks that may be asked by Management.
  • Maintains established SAP Bar Operating procedures; Improves upon these procedures by providing recommendations for increased efficiencies, higher sales, or streamlined bar operations.
  • Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with managers, coworkers and customers.
  • Checks POS regularly for pricing accuracy. Notifies management of any issues or programming needs.
  • Serves as a positive ambassador for SAP’s Hospitality department by responding positively to guest questions or complaints and escalating any issues or unknown questions to the appropriate manager.
  • Uses POS and handheld technology (mobile) device to submit & fulfill orders
  • Completes opening and closing side work as directed by management.
  • Fulfills orders efficiently, accurately, and with a sense of urgency
  • Pays close attention to product and order accuracy
  • Keeps bar area and service pickup windows organized and free of clutter
  • Effectively communicates any necessary changes to an order
  • Processes order transactions as needed through the online system and in-house POS;
  • Follows SAP’s Cash Handling Policies & Procedures
  • Mixes high-quality cocktails accurately & efficiently using liquor, juices, soda and mixers.
  • Blends, shakes or stirs drink according to SAP recipes and standards, using jigger, spoon, shaker or blender.
  • Rotates liquor, bottled beer and wine inventory.
  • Maintains security of all bar supplies.
  • Fills ice bins as needed, using scoop and pail.
  • Changes soda boxes, beer kegs and CO2 when needed.
  • Prepares and cuts up garnishes.
  • Restocks all bar supplies, including stirrers, straws & napkins.
  • Requisitions necessary liquor & bar supplies from warehouse according to SAP standards and policies.
  • Completes monthly inventory of product according to SAP standards & policies.
  • Cleans all surfaces during shift and end of shift.
  • Effectively communicates any necessary changes to an order
  • Prepares or puts finishing touches on food and beverage orders
  • Resolves guest issues in a timely fashion, or escalates to the appropriate manager
  • Maintains appropriate health and safety standards according to County codes, guidelines, and SAP standards
  • Supports other tasks as needed by Hospitality management


Job Requirements:

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of all aspects of bartending, serving and cocktail preparation
  • Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds, also twist, bent, push, pull, turn and reach.
  • Ability to handle various requests in an efficient manner
  • Accurate cash handling skills
  • Have the ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift
  • Must maintain a safe work environment at all times
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and congenially with guests about SAP services, products, programs and events
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally with guests and co-workers in English with some understanding of Spanish
  • Must be able to comfortably utilize mobile device to communicate with guests using appropriate language and professional tone
  • Must be able to read and comprehend online and printed orders
  • Must be able to perform basic functions to maintain accurate product offerings, refund or credit guests as needed, and submit daily reports
  • Must be able to troubleshoot technology in case device malfunctions in order to maintain constant flow of information
  • Must utilize excellent guest service skills to enhance the SAP experience and meet the needs of our VIP guests with a positive and upbeat attitude
  • Must be well-organized and have ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must satisfactorily fulfill all department training requirements
  • Must have availability for both racing and offtrack/non-racing shifts and events
  • Maintains positive standing within the department
