Position Responsibilities:

• Proofread and author service information and customer literature in GM’s content management system, typically starting with source material from Joint Ventures.
• Create and populate text and graphic documents.
• Manage the relationship between source document IDs and newly created GM IDs.
• Accurately update content and publication structure to incorporate research findings as well as feedback from engineering, marketing, customer literature team members, and global partners
• Communicate and collaborate with team members, joint ventures and other global partners and colleagues to develop process and quality improvements.
• Maintain documentation for changes and ensure this information remains accessible to team members.
• Maintain records per GM Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) record retention policy and ensure this information remains accessible to GM.
• Complete all assigned work according to established production schedule and report any unresolved content-related concerns.
• Perform additional authoring, data coordination, composition, or other support tasks as needed.
• Attend meetings as required.

Position Requirements:

• Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent use and understanding of English language; ability to proofread and edit.
• Working knowledge of SGML and/or XML tagging, use of Arbortext Editor, Epic Editor, or like authoring software.
• Ability to quickly learn, write, and improve on complex processes.
• Troubleshoots and problem-solves document or file formatting issues such as fonts, graphs, tables, etc., and determine best course of action.
• Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to work in a production-based environment with adherence to strict delivery schedule timing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate within a diverse global team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate MS Excel experience such as formulas, PivotTables, or macros
• Experience with SharePoint and Adobe software products
• Working knowledge of publishing software and/or knowledge of Arbortext Advance Print Publisher (APP)
• Strong understanding of HTML within browser and mobile app environments
• Familiarity with concepts of global communication including language structure, translation, and localization.
• Experience handling graphics files including TIFF and SVG.
• Experience with FrameMaker and/or InDesign
