This is how you will grow:

The Director of Electrical Engineering will support our current business and contribute to the growth plans of the company. The Director of Electrical Engineering will report directly to the President/CEO with matrix relationships with other Directors and with corporate headquarters in Germany. In this role, the ideal candidate will be charged with creating their own division strategy (with P&L responsibility), that will complement and comply with the company’s strategic plans. During the first year, the Director of Electrical Engineering will develop a strategic plan, secure new customer projects, and build an engineering team. The candidate selected for this position will be passionate about problem solving, skilled in team-building, strongly collaborative and possess well-developed oral and written communication skills. Once hired, the candidate will work alongside the President/CEO to learn the intricacies of the business, establish strong customer relationships and credibility with teammates to support a smooth transition and on-boarding process.


Requirements:

This is how you will take us forward:

  • Minimum of eight years engineering experience in the automotive industry with at least three years in a management capacity. Ideally this experience will include the following:
  • Strong knowledge of the automotive industry with significant experience working at automotive suppliers or engineering consulting firms supporting suppliers and/or OEMs.This background should include a strong engineering background, however we also need someone who has the ability to interact and understand the sales process;
  • Results driven experience combined with the skills to effectively manage a division P&L, including long term trends and the ability to make recommendations concerning management decisions, resource allocation and business operations to enhance the division/company financial performance. This individual needs to be very strategic so they can lay out a growth plan;
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and spirit. This person will be charged with building and growing their own division and thus it’s important that they have demonstrated the capabilities and interest to handle this task. This person will need to develop a team of highly skilled engineers and designers to support this vision;
  • The skill set to effectively interact with a variety of different people. This person will report to the President/CEO but will interact with other senior managers within EDAG as well as various key people at the German parent company.

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong understanding and experience with in Engineering Services
  • Proven success of leading an engineering organization
  • Ability to work and influence in a matrix and global organization is essential
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate rapidly and effectively within the organization and to represent the company in a professional manner
  • Ability to create a product vision and champion that vision within the organization
  • Business experience in resource allocation, budgeting, project management and leadership.
  • Ability to shift resources and priorities to meet critical deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze quantitatively and qualitatively, scope technical requirements and effectively prioritize program deliverables and testing needs.
  • Understanding of business figures and management of financial
  • Ability to develop business cases within responsibility to achieve PC goals
  • Familiarity with P&L on Profit Center level
  • Experience in building technical teams, including hiring and establishing performance metrics.
  • Design and implement products including design optimization, robust engineering, product line engineering, and design transfer.
  • Strong breadth of knowledge in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, fluidics, thermodynamics, instrument design, and mechatronic systems.
  • Experience in releasing products across multiple locations.
  • Experience with designing, developing and testing of electrical systems and devices.
  • Able to conduct test, analyzes data and develop technical reports
