Who we are seeking….

Berks Construction Group is seeking a meticulous and organized individual to join our team as a Full Charge Construction Bookkeeper. This person will be responsible for managing various financial tasks including but not limited to: Work in Progress Schedule on a % complete basis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries and more. This role requires great attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, have an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to work with a high-performance team. Have a positive attitude with the energy to fulfill all job responsibilities with integrity and excellence. Must possess a strong work ethic.

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper for a Commercial General Contractor
  • 5+ years’ experience working with “Work in Progress” (WIP Schedule) their creation and management on a % complete basis to determine cost in excess of billings or Billings in excess of costs.
  • 5+ years’ experience of job-related duties and experience working with (GAAP) Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and be able to read the chart of accounts. They should also be able to make journal entries and take a trial balance.
  • 10+ years’ experience working with General Ledger
  • 10+ years’ experience performing work with construction job costing transactions, customer milestone payments and cashflow projections.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that financial information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Oversee all bank deposits, petty cash accounts, credit card accounts, and lines of credit.
  • Management of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: Manage the processing of payments of invoices and compare billing statements for accuracy.
  • Run Reports Budget vs Actual Monthly overheads costs to keep monthly costs within budget.
  • Complete: Bank reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, cash flow, financial statement preparation, audit, full cycle A/P, and payroll
  • Journal entry posting and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Complete the Monthly Closing of the financial books for the accountants review including closing of the various subledgers i.e. accounts payable, accounts receivable & running of various required month end reports: P&L, Balance Sheet, Open AR as of Month End, Cashflow Statements, WIP Schedule Over & Under billings review, reports showing all bank accounts are reconciled.
  • General Office Duties: Assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Run trial balances reports to ensure general ledger accounts are in balance. During this process, employee will review and request that they can perform certain journal entries to correct any discrepancies they find in the trial balances.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in accounting software, i.e. Sage Accounting Software, Foundation, or other accounting software other than QuickBooks.
  • Exceptional Skillset in MS Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Microsoft software
  • Extensive-Advanced excel capabilities: Advanced formulas and functions e.g., VLOOKUP, Creating and using Pivot tables, Understanding, Creating, and using the AutoFilter feature, PivotTables, Conditional Formatting, OFFSET, Making use of the Formula tab and Functions library.

· Experience with Procore a plus.

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles with a General Contractor using Working in Progress on a Percentage complete basis and interpreting “Cost in excess of Billings” and “Billings in excess of Costs” on a WIP Schedule
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
