Import/Export & Trade Compliance Specialist III


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position will play a crucial role in managing import and export logistical processes and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. This position involves overseeing inbound/outbound shipments, coordinating with various stakeholders, and implementing strategies to streamline import/export procedures while maintaining compliance standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Import/Export Logistics Management:

  • Coordinate and manage all global inbound/outbound shipments, including booking approvals, documentation, scheduling, and transportation.
  • Collaborate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely and cost-effective import operations.
  • Monitor shipment status, resolve logistics issues, and track deliveries to ensure on-time arrivals at global destinations.
  • Responsible for annual data analysis for a direct role in annual Ocean Carrier Contract Negotiations.
  • Global Trade Compliance:
  • Stay updated with changes in import/export regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure adherence to global customs regulations and company policies including Non-Resident Importer of Record (NRI) transactions.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams regarding global trade compliance matters, including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classification, INCOTERMS, Valuation, Berry Compliance, and Made in USA determination.
  • Accountability in oversight of LaCrosse Footwear's C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and other applicable supply chain security programs.
  • Accountability in managing LaCrosse Footwear's Duty Drawback program.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate import/export documentation, including customs declarations, invoices, permits, and import/export controls.
  • Ensure all records related to import/export activities are properly documented and organized for compliance purposes.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and cost/on-time performance optimization within import/export logistics and compliance operations.
  • Implement best practices and strategies to improve efficiency while maintaining compliance standards.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including demand and supply, distribution, IT, sales operations, marketing, and finance to ensure alignment on import/export logistics and compliance strategies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in import/export logistics and trade compliance within a relevant industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance practices.
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, freight forwarding, and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in using import/export software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of proactive problem solving and process improvement.
  • US Customers Brokerage License preferred (required to obtain as a condition of continued employment)
  • Must be willing to conduct oneself in accordance with Company's Core Values

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is classified as hybrid meaning work will be performed onsite at the corporate office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely Monday & Friday.
