Job Description
Our client is looking for dynamic Director of Project Management (PM) where you'll play a pivotal role in directing and coordinating activities for large or complex projects or programs. As a liaison between our esteemed client and their projects, you'll be instrumental in conceptualizing, organizing, and overseeing project execution.

Here's what you'll be doing:
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, organize, and lead customer-related projects, services, and activities.
  • Define project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within company guidelines and contractual specifications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client-facing project meetings and strategic discussions.
  • Monitor and manage project progress, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets, while directing operational and delivery resources.
  • Conduct comprehensive project reviews and manage the project portfolio to achieve financial objectives, including budget preparation, expenditure scheduling, and variance analysis.
  • Engage with operations management to address work procedures, complaints, and project challenges, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Partner with contract administrators to oversee financial aspects of contracts, balancing company interests with maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Generate reports on work progress, costs, and scheduling, and proactively manage and resolve project issues throughout the project life cycle.
  • Uphold the project management processes utilized by our client, ensuring consistency and quality across projects.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations for junior project managers.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field preferred, along with at least 5 years of professional experience in utility or utility services industry management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience required, with PMP certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including previous experience supervising exempt-level professionals.
  • Exceptional customer interaction and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel required, with preferred experience in MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, and MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of project cost accounting principles, including revenue tracking, cost reconciliation, and invoicing.
  • Ability to coordinate and interact effectively with multiple operations and systems engineering teams across various locations.
  • Capability to generate comprehensive project reports for internal and external distribution.
  • Moderate travel required (10-30%), with occasional overnight stays.
Physical Demands:
In this role, the employee will engage in various physical activities. They should be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, with full mobility in both upper and lower body. Additionally, the employee will frequently sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The job may require lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:
The employee will encounter diverse environmental conditions while performing their duties. They may handle or be exposed to preservatives, coatings, and other chemical substances. Work settings often include outdoor environments with varying weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, and freezing temperatures. Exposure to potential hazards like poisonous plants, insects, and allergens is possible. Additionally, there may be exposure to energized electrical equipment, necessitating appropriate safety precautions. The noise level in the work environment typically ranges from moderate to loud, occasionally exceeding 85 decibels.

Travel:
Travel requirements for this position vary based on customer needs and project locations. Expect frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel across one or more states. Extended work weeks and additional hours may be necessary during peak periods or specific projects. The employee must maintain a consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend availability as needed.
