Essential Functions:

The Lead Test Engineer is a technical leader for the verification of complex electronic systems. Individuals in this role will perform customer requirements review, define verification methods, and required test equipment, prepare verification documentation, including verification plans and test procedures, and schedule test activities.

Job duties may include but are not limited to:

  1. Lead integration and test activities of multi-function space systems.
  • Assesses project design and viability from a verification and validation perspective.
  • Lead requirement verification planning efforts for a program including test tools, test equipment, and personal needs to complete verification and validation testing of the product.
    • Document verification effort through writing test plans and test procedures tailored to the specific requirements of space electronic systems, encompassing both functional and environmental testing parameters.
    • Support first article testing with an eye to improve the product design and verification procedures for follow-on production units.
    • Improve and implement verification and validations practices and methods to be applied to multiple projects.
    • Coordinate with product test teams and test technicians to improve daily operations and increase throughput and efficiency.
  1. Conduct thorough functional testing of electronic hardware and systems to verify compliance with design specifications. Analyze test data and results, identifying anomalies, deviations, and areas for improvement.
  2. Support process improvement for requirements verification, equipment validation and test practices.
  3. Collaborate with program management, system and subsystem engineers, mission assurance, technicians, and other program personnel.
  4. Effectively train and mentor junior test engineers and test technicians.
  5. Participate in test equipment design including test cables, custom circuits, software, and test firmware.
  6. Provide estimates for development hours and schedule for execution of remaining work and for changes in scope.
  7. Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Education/Certification: BS degree in mechanical, electrical, computer science, aerospace engineering or other relevant technical discipline.

Years of Experience: 10+ years of experience in electronics testing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  1. Ability to plan resources and lead testing activities of printed circuit boards, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and electronic systems.
  2. Hands on experience with the integration & testing of complex electronic systems.
  3. Ability to record and process test failures and participate on troubleshooting to identify the root cause of the failure.
  1. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  2. Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  3. Familiarity with functional and environmental testing to space industry standards, including random vibration, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC, ESD and shock testing is desirable.
