RESEARCH ASSISTANT

HOURS: 50 hours total for the project
STATUS: NON EXEMPT
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Research Assistants (RAs) will work under the supervision of Dr. Pam King at SoPMFT and the Project Coordinator to conduct literature review of the facets of Thrive's model of spiritual health. Under general supervision, RAs perform varied support functions requiring knowledge and skills specific to the research study. RAs will perform duties under the supervision of, and with direction from, the study’s Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator and will work collaboratively with the research team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (as applicable to particular project):
- Review and understand the project description
- Review literature on the six facets of Spiritual Health which include: Transcendence, Habits & Rhythms, Relationships & Community, Identity & Narrative, Vocation & Purpose, and Ethics & Virtues.
- Clean and select relevant raw data, correct typos, (texts and potentially drawings), and code for data analysis
- Write literature reviews to support Dr. King's research agenda
- Maintain confidentiality of communication
- Perform basic qualitative analysis and summarize findings
- Assist with manuscript preparation
Knowledge and Skills Required or preferred:
- Current MFT or Psychology student in the School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy
- Have general interest in the psychology of religion and spirituality (PRS)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with a large variety of individuals
- Candidates should also be detail oriented, highly organized, reliable, and a strong team player
- Familiarity with basic research methodology and design skills relevant to the project and role

- This position requires some work to be done on the Pasadena, CA campus
Pay Scale
- Wage the seminary expects to pay for this position: $18 - $20 per hour, USD
