Senior Engineer - New Model Evaluation

Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) - North American Quality Center (NAQC) is currently looking for an Evaluation Engineer for our Chino, CA location that will:

• Test and evaluate chassis quality concerns for new vehicle models and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Investigate/support testing and evaluation of chassis quality issues on Hyundai, Genesis or Kia vehicles responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and sudden increases in warranty claims.
• Conduct field or on-site investigations to collect subjective and objective data during driving to identify concern to perform root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of Chassis Fundamental (NVH, steering, brakes, vibration, ADAS etc.) and HVAC
• Experience with vehicle sensors (LiDAR, radar, etc.), motor driven steering systems, collision avoidance system, adaptive control, lane departure, tire monitor system, etc.
• Familiarity with LMS, using service manual, experience with shop equipment (tire balancer/charger, lift, etc.) & knowledge of other chassis engineering test equipment.
• Support new model quality evaluation activities related to chassis and schedule N.A. pre-launch activities for new models.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices and facilitate learning on the job.
• Provide support in collaboration with other groups/affiliates of test plans for the various quality tests done for new models including Ride & Handling, NVH, Flat Spot Testing, Hot and Cold weather tests.
• Manage schedules and advise outsourced companies to ensure all deliverables are met as per contract.
• Assist vendors and triage issues that may arise to maintain schedule.
• Engineering analysis and research results for 'lessons learned' on current and future models.
• Benchmark competitive vehicles to research differences and improve HMG vehicle systems.
• Research, procure and maintain new technology, tools, and methods for data acquisition or analysis.
• Conduct vehicle audits for Hyundai & Kia models during developmental stages and after vehicle launch.
• Create and present technical and weekly reports as assigned.
• Perform additional projects as assigned.
• Travel up to 40% of the time domestically and internationally.

Required Experience:

* Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
* 3 years in Vehicle Evaluation and Development
* 1 year in Brake Testing and Evaluation
